RESUMEN

Agustin Ibañez luego de obtener su PhD, se especializó en electrofisiología en el Max Plank Institute for Brain Research (Alemania) y realizó estudios postdoctorales en el Centro de Neurociencias de Cuba, en la University of Heidelberg (Alemania) y en el CONICET (Argentina).

Es actualmente Director del Instituto de Neurociencia Cognitiva y Traslacional (INCYT, INECO-CONICET-Favaloro, Argentina); Investigador Independiente del CONICET (Argentina); investigador afiliado del Center for Social and Cognitive Neuroscience en la Universidad de Chicago (Estados Unidos) e investigador asociado del Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders (CCD) del Australian Research Council (ARC).

Ha publicado más de 100 trabajos científicos en los últimos 5 años; incluyendo revistas de alto impacto tales como Brain, Neurology, Journal of Neuroscience, JAMA Neurology, o Nature Reviews, entre otras.

Ha sido director o co-director de más de 25 investigaciones de maestría o doctorado desde el 2009. Ha recibido diversos reconocimientos internacionales tales como el Nelson Butters Award (International Neuropsychological Society, 2008); el Latin-American Grant (Society for Psychophysiological Research, 2008, 2009, 2012 y 2013); y el International Society for Neuroimaging in Psychiatry Award (ISNIP, Elsevier, 2011).

Ha establecido y fortalecido diversas colaboraciones con centros internacionales de excelencia tales como la University of Heidelberg (Alemania), el MRC de Cambridge (Reino Unido), y las Universidades de Nueva York, Caltech, Chicago y Wisconsin (Estados Unidos), entre otras.

Ha propuesto el llamado social-context network model (una red cerebral encargada de integrar la información contextual y social), y ha aplicado dicho modelo al estudio de la versión conductual de la demencia frontotemporal, y otros trastornos incluyendo el autismo, la esquizofrenia y otros cuadros neurodegenerativos.

Líneas de investigación: Neurociencia social en neuropsiquiatría, neurología cognitiva y enfermedades neurodegenerativas, neurociencia traslacional, bases neurobiológicas sobre el social-contex netwok model (red cerebral encargada de integrar la información contextual y social).
